Birthing a New Heart-Centered Paradigm
Part 1 of 6
‘The Current Broken Paradigm’
By Nick Terrone
“The need for a new paradigm is not fully recognized, accepted and acted upon, until the corruption of all aspects of the existing model are perceived and the true nature, extent and consequences of the crisis is understood”
~ Juliet Carter ~
The above quote encapsulates the message of this 6 part blog series about the crucial elements of birthing a new heart-centered paradigm. The first obvious and logical step is to recognize that before something new and better can be created, the old must fall apart and fade away. We are living in those times right now. I’m sure you don’t have to be convinced of this. Watching the 6 o’clock news is all it takes to see that our current paradigm is broken and just like Humpty Dumpty, no amount of patching up is going to fix it.
My humble request is that you treat this series of 6 blogs like a journey of growth and unfoldment, one leading onto the next. I intend to share with you some of the things I have come to learn from both external sources such as books, seminars, speakers, teachers and healers and internal sources through my daily meditation practice. Over recent years I’ve come to the conclusion that the later source of knowledge and insight that comes from within is far and away more powerful, reliable and accurate when it comes to assessing what’s right or wrong for you. It’s for this reason why I have devoted much of my professional practice, writings, speaking and sharing to helping people develop the single most useful thing I believe anyone can develop to help them navigate what seems to be an increasingly crazy world – their intuition, but more on that in my blogs to follow.
Firstly, to more clearly understand the way forward, we need to clearly understand where we are and how we’ve come to be here. Taking a logical approach, you could say that the world is in the state that it is because it’s the result of a type of collective ‘world view’. Perhaps this is another way to define the current paradigm. We are living in a world where a certain type of predominant culture has prevailed as ‘the winner’, a culture that to a large degree has been engineered by those with power and influence. This cultural engineering, you could say, has been spearheaded by a more brain approach, as opposed to a heart-based one.
Before I go any further, just take a moment to consider the kinds of traits, tendencies behavior or characteristics that would naturally arise from a brain versus heart-based living. I believe the brain is the armchair that our ego sits in as opposed to the armchair of our heart which is the seat of our spirit (or soul). Don’t get me wrong, both are important and both have a role to play in our life, but perhaps we are experiencing the imbalance that has developed on an individual and collective level between the ego-brain and the heart-spirit. I believe that in order for all life to thrive together harmoniously a balance is needed between both. This balance is clearly absent from the systems and structures we have created and relied upon to create thriving communities. These include the central banks, multinational corporations, the pharmaceutical industry, the oil, gas and mining industry. All have contributed in their own way to degrade and poison the most simple things all humanity require for life, air, food and water.
But what’s at the basis of this current broken paradigm?
In a nutshell, whether you recognize it or not, we are where we are because of the influence of what science has told us over the years about the nature of reality. If we are to create and birth a new heart-centered paradigm we need to understand the source of what created this broken one to begin with, and that’s science. It is the scientific method, and the story that it has created, which has lead us to believe what we believe about the world within our mind, body and hearts as well as the world around us. I’m not saying that science is ‘evil’ or ‘bad’, in fact we need to recognize that our world has benefited enormously by science and the technology that it has helped us create. However, if some of the most fundamental assumptions of mainstream science are incorrect or incomplete, then it’s going to lead to incorrect or incomplete outcomes and results.
At the most fundamental level, our mainstream science has greatly contributed to the thing that I believe has and continues to manifest on all levels of life from individuals, to communities, to nations to the world over and that one thing is DISCONNECTION! Think about it, if we have a world view that all things are basically disconnected and separate from all other things, then we are going to behave, make decisions and choices accordingly. The disconnection we are now witnessing within individuals is simply being played out on a collective level as well. In fact studies have shown that the number one cause for addiction (in all its forms) is in fact a sense of disconnection.
If we are to remedy this disconnection within people, communities and the world, then it’s important to look at the science that is underpinning, and ‘propping up’, this current broken paradigm of disconnection. This will be looked at in Part 2: ‘The Current Science of Disconnection’. We then need to consider the assumptions of the new and emerging science of the interconnectivity of all things which will be considered in Part 3: ‘The New Science of Oneness’. In Part 4 we will then begin to bring it back to an individual level by looking at the power we have within ourselves to manifest and implement the new science of oneness and birth the new heart-centered paradigm with: ‘The Intelligent & Intuitive Heart’. We will then define the concept of ‘The Heart-Mind’ along with the deeper and hidden resources you have within you which can be accessed through a state of trance. The final blog in this series, Part 6: ‘Practicing (and BEING) The Change’, we will bring it all together as I share with you a process and technique that will help you embody and emanate the lessons and learnings of the previous 5 parts so you might feel inspired and encouraged to play your part in the birthing of this new paradigm. After all, we’re all in this together. It’s true what they say, knowledge is power, but without implementation, that power is not only useless, but wasted.
