A Place To Call Home aims to reduce homelessness and unemployment for kids aged out of foster care by providing a safe home to live in, employment, study opportunities and necessary life skills.
Purpose:
To give the children who have left the foster care system a chance to succeed at life by giving them a sense of purpose and belonging. Getting them involved in something bigger than themselves.
What Happens:
At age 18, the kids living in foster care are forced to leave the foster care home. The statistics show: 71% homelessness. 47% unemployment amongst foster care kids after they leave the foster care home.
A Place To Call Home
A Place To Call Home is being created in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. In the near future I will purchase a block of land which will become the community center. The heart of A Place To Call Home. The hub of connections, and the hive of activity.
Will offer life skills programs to the children who have left the foster care system. A Place To Call Home will become a Community Center where every child has the chance to succeed at life. An eight year program will be offered to the childlren giving basic everyday education, employment, study, apprenticships and the necessary life skills needed.
Photos
Right now, as there is no block of land, I can not put any photos up...... Each question mark will reveal our community center as it is taking shape and making progress. Stay tuned and come back often to see the progress.
